Text Box:  Structure of the atom
Although no body has ever seen an atom all the materials are made by atom. Our present planetary model of the atom is proposed by the Niels Bohr in 1913. Atom is the smallest unit of the material.
Atoms are made by 3 particles… figure 1-1
Electrons.               
Protons.
Neutrons.

Electrons are traveling around the nucleus and them showing negative (-) electric charge. Fig. 1-1
Protons are in side the nucleus and they show positive (+) electric charge. 
Neutrons are also in side the nucleus they show nothing charge and that is neutral. 
Negative electrons travel around the nucleus in orbits. The compact bundle of the particle in the middle of the atom contains proton and neutrons. This bundle is called the nucleus of the atom. The first orbit has 2 electrons, second orbit has eight electrons, and the last orbit (valance orbit) has 4 electrons. According to the chemistry last orbit is most important because this the particle which is participate to reactions. At the same way in this valance electron are important when you are studying electrical behavior in material. So in this manner we can represent silicon atom simply as figure 1-2
